#1 Sporters--we need a modern concise reference

Post by Yellowhouse »

I appreciate the patience and knowledge of those that have answered my often really stupid questions during the past few weeks concerning the vagaries of #1 sporters and similar models. Because of you I have learned a great deal. Marlinman93, OlRemguy, Roy Marchot, and others have been most helpful to me in understanding minor and major differences that one might encounter, e.g, on seeing one pic in an auction.

I have learned that what few references we have are limited in scope and detail concerning the #1 sporter. This important rifle deserves a more detailed and comprehensive treatise rather than the paintbrush descriptions we've been exposed to.

Please, one of you, compile information and pictures of collections, individual pieces that have historical value, details, anomalies and what have you into a hardbound book on the Remington Sporter that is the equal and definitive reference similar to that of Sellers book on Sharps.

I don't care who or how many writes it but put me down for the first copy.

You're in luck! Since Roy Marcot just put out his new book covering the Rolling Blocks. I haven't got a copy yet, but I would hope it will answer a lot of questions we all have about these great guns! Check this forum home page for info on the new book!
