The authority on these is John Gyde, he'll probably respond later but the "OX" would indicate July 1929 as the manufacture date. I have never seen a nickel plated Model 12, anything is possible so its best we wait for John or someone else that knows these guns better. An octagon barrel does suggest it is a Model 12C.

July, 1929 is correct. Rem offered partial or full nickel plating as an option on the M/12. Most that I have seen were earlier than yours. Talking from memory (dangerous thing to do) I believe the nickel was actually chromium.

I recently acquired a "nickel" (chromium-plated) trigger guard & trigger. (I think I also have a 1909 Butt Plate in Nickel.) My question, as any avid Collector might ask is: Does anyone have any leads on the other Nickel rifle parts (e.g., Barrel, Receiver, Feeder Tube/Action Bar)? A couple pix attached. Thank you.

I have what I thought to be known as a Pre Mod 12 serial number # 297048 with RW above. Using the serial number look up it looks like 1915. But it looks like the barrel code is PL Which I think would be 1920 ?? I am not sure about what production date would be ?? Round barrel Nickle plated receiver all other parts are blued. Here are pictures please share any thoughts. John Taylor
