Ok guys heres what i found is it real or not? It appears to be .43 spanish military. The barrel is 33 3/4 " long, and has a P stamped into the barrel just about 1/4' in front of the receiver on the left side. On top of the tang it says Remington Arms Company Ilion,NY Pat May 3D 1864 May 7th June 11th Nov 12th Dec 24th 187? ( i can't make out this # it runs into the tang screw hole) Dec 31 1872 Sept 9th 1876 Jan 12th March 16th 1874. On the top and bottom tangs on the left side it has #9665. I assume this is a model or pat #? What year would it have been made ? Where can i find a stock, forearm, bands & screws to put this old girl back together again? I know that it will be expensive to shoot , but i do plan to load my own ammo. The top and the bottom tang are the same length they are approx.3 3/8" long. Thanks for your help.

On the 1st page of this site go down to "parts" and look for WS Womack for your parts.

Thanks for the reply Tjack, I'm not sure what to look for is the a #1 or some other model? Is there a book or some way to tell how old the gun is?

I read somewhere that the #5 rifle had an off set or "wings" at the rear of the recieiver block where it meets the stock, Is this a #5 or a # 1 rolling block in the photo above? Thanks again for any help ,I'm just getting started in BPCR shooting and don't know much about anything with these rifles.

It looks like yours is the black powder No.1 action. If it is 11mm Spanish then it is the No. 1. The so-called #5 is just a smokeless powder version of the #1 and is most commonly chambered for 7mm Mauser. George Layman has a new book out on Military Rolling Block rifles that is very all-inclusive. It is also available from Mr. Womack. If you have detailed questions about particular parts you give Womack a call. He is also very knowledgeable.

Thanks again Tjack, I will be callng Mr.Womack and plan to order the Laymans book . I thought it was a # 1 when i bought it but wasn't sure. But a .43 cal casing fit perfectly into the chamber. I can't wait to bring this one back to life.
