Look on the bottom of the barrel just ahead of the forearm. If yours is fairly early, the number will also be stamped on the bottom of the stock just behind the receiver.

I just re-read your post. The M/6 wasn't made in a centerfire.

The Rem site you posted does not mention a centerfire. The seller didn't mention which centerfire caliber it was unless I missed it. The fore-arm is a replacement. All M/6s I have seen have serial #s. I had over 35 of them when I was doing research for the Rem 22 book & they all had serial #s. The one in the photo has been abused so badly it might be hidden under some rust.

Rem has several errors on their website info. Trust me, a centerfire cartridge would be shot only one time in a M/6. Also, the M/6 is a falling block, not a rolling block. Rem has two errors on one page.
