I think I mistakenly posted this in the pre 1898 section so I've moved it here...
I've been tasked with selling a few firearms from an estate and am having a bit of trouble determining what this is, let alone determining a value. I thought perhaps someone here could help.
I know the BATJAC has something to do with John Wayne and the movie the Alamo. No marking anywhere on the rifle besides the BATJAC and patent infomation on the strap... I believe its 7mm

Your post got me curious, so I did some searching. Lots of links out there. From an historic standpoint, the rolling block wouldn't be "accurate" for a movie like the Alamo, but then, Hollywood never let that get in their way when making movies or TV westerns.
