Hi All, is it possible for a model 14 1/2 rifle to have a hard rubber buttplate and be original, it has a shotgun style buttplate and riased solid cartridge indicator ?

Tbury is correct as is Ken's book (which I review periodically in awe!)
I have received guns in for repair that had later serials and did have original plastic butt plates which were usually cracked or broken. Since I personally feel that "no two of these guns are identical", anything is possible. The variations out of the factory are so numerous that they cannot all be itemized.
It is probably worth noting that none of the later guns I received with the plastic butt plates were 14.5's. Since the 14/14.5 share a stock in common with each other I felt it worth mentioning.
