Rem. 141

Post by parashoot »

Hi everyone, newbie here and would appreciate an answer to this question.I just recently purchased a 141 in really nice shape.Looked at the 2 letters on left side of receiver and found out the gun was made Dec.1941.Everyhing seems original including the rear step sight. There is 2 screws at end of receiver to install,i assume a peep sight.I am basing this on the fact there was another 141 near this one with a folding Lyman peep sight, but i bought mine because it was in much better shape.Could someone tell me what sight that folding Lyman sight was(possibly a #1 or #2).Also if i did put a lyman peep on it would i have to change the front sight which is a dovetail. Thanks :?: I paid $400,was that about the going price?

The Lyman sight is the R14, while a Marbles sight is the R8. A King sight would be a R14. The front sight should be okay to use, and personally, I think you got the rifle for a good price.
