Remington model 11 engraving patterns

Post by jgairguns »

I would like pictures, rubbings, tracings, or what ever of the engraving patterns used on the various grades of the model 11. If anyone has knowledge of where I can find this I would greatly appreciate knowing about it. Also, if anyone can send or post a picture of the engraving with the Grade I that would be very helpful. Thanks. John

Thanks I thought that there were more grades that had factory engraving. Can anyone tell me for sure?

As far as I know, only the "Tournament", "Expert", and "Premier" had hand engraving. Here they are from the 1908-09 Remington Arms Co. catalogue --

From its introduction circa 1931, The Sportsman had roll-stamped game scenes with three birds on each side of the receiver --

Along about 1937 Remington cut the game scenes on The Sportsman to one bird on each side, and began using the roll-stamp on the Model 11 receivers as well. At that time they also began building The Sportsman in the regular Model 11 serial numbers.

The current Julia's auction has an 11F. You may be able to get a good image from the internet catalog when it comes out.
