I don't believe it is factory work. The pattern is not what was normally done. It's hard to tell from the photo, but the edges look like there's some overrun.

I have to agree with John that the checkering doesn't look factory. One thing I notice you say a lot though and hate to step on toes, but I have seen some checkeres 12s that are 100% factory and some have over runs.I've seen some have a few.
