New guy w/ a new model 14

Hi everybody!

I just picked up a Model 14 in 30 rem to be a mate to my 81 (in 30 rem also). I got a good deal on it I feel. Only paid $249 out the door, crisp action, bright crisp bore, but someone parkerized it somewhere along the line. Also, rear sight is not correct. Juding by the extra slot cut in the barrel behind the dovetail cut, it is supposed to have the wheel adjustor sight, right? Also, I was researching the manufacture date, and have discovered in it pre 1921 as it has no barrel code. Serial number 62,xxx. I was also researching something else that bothered me. Mine has a cut out on the reciever under the bolt. Is this for the thumbnail safety I read about? I do have a cross bolt safety though and my lower reciever/ trigger group serial matches the main reciever. Could someone verify that for me. From what I have found that means it was probably made around 1919 or 1920. Also, does anyone know where one might obtain a correct rear sight? I can't wait to get this thing out to the range! I'll try and post w/ some pics later.
