Remington Model 30-SR

Post by dobk »

Finally found a Remington Model 30-SR with the Redfield 102R receiver sight. I was beginning to wonder if any had survived unmolested with the original sight still on them. The stock has not been cut for a Lyman 48 of a 30-SL and the barrel is not tapped for the riser & sight of a 30-SX so I don't believe it was either of those versions with a 102R added.

Barrel date code is A F, so March 1937. Serial numbers is in the 273XX range. Metal looks nice other than wear on the sides of the front sight band. Stock has a LOT of scrapes and dings but not appear to have been refinished. I wonder how any of each variant of the 30-S was made and in each caliber: 30-SL, 30-SR, 30-SM, and 30-SX in .30-06, .257 Roberts, 7mm Mauser, and .25 Rem. I suppose those records were lost long ago.

I've never seen a 30-SM with the Marbles Goss sight, does anyone here have one? Adding 30SR, 30SL, 30SX, and 30SM for searches. Pictures of the rifle below.
