Good morning everyone,
I'm new to the forum...nice to meet you all! I am on a quest. I have a model 14 1/2 in 44-40 that is missing the brass cartridge indicator plug on the left side of the receiver. I am looking for one marked 44 REM. I have checked with some of the usual suspects...Old Arms of Idaho, Classic Firearms & Parts, Jack First, and EBay (more months). Any suggestions? Cheers
Part Quest for model 14 1/2

Yeah, Jack First doesn't even know that rifle exists.
I probably have one but too lazy to go down to my shop and check. Almost all were the recessed version with the primer. They made a few late guns that had the raised shell head without the primer. If I have one it would be the former (flush with primer).

Re: Part Quest for model 14 1/2
Hi Jim,
Thank you for replying!!
I’m not sure which one it would be. I have never seen what the hole looks like with the brass shell head removed on both types. In the case of this rifle I I would guess raised because the vacant hole is quite small… 9/32”. I have other model 14 1/2’s with the flush shell head…has to be a larger hole to house the outer diameter of the brass shell head
Cheers,
Martin

I have a couple of 38-40 shell heads and one flush 44 REM that is still in place on a frame. None seem appropriate for your use. Sorry about that!
