I was given an old A5 pattern 12 guage from my grandpa. He told me it was actually his dads, and that that his dads, dad, being my grandpas grandpa haha bought it either before or during the war I don’t think he even knew exactly because he was born in the 50s well after it was purchased. Anyway I have been trying to find any information about it and it has been harder than I thought and I own quite a few older pieces so had me wondering why this one was so hard to track down. The only serial number is on the underside of the receiver and it says 84841. The barrel says RP in a circle. Some have said there might be more marking under the handguard wood but I have not removed it yet to look. The top of the barrel says manufactured by the Remington arms co and the browning patent information. So my question is this a model 11 is it pre model 11 and when about was it manufactured. I am probably going to remove the handguard because I have a feeling the barrel was replaced at some point because the earlier models said Remington group or something else I don’t remember exactly what my book said.
Thank You,
I am curious, but my grandpa would probably like to know more as he shot this as a kid many times and was the families main shotgun for years.

Re: Grandpas old model 11?
That's a nice old Remington. Probably made around 1910ish, and before it was named the "Model 11".
