That is the original marking on the underside of the barrel. So, my question is simple...what is it? I've read about the .32-30 and .32-40 Remington cartridges, and I assume some Hepburns were chambered for the more common 32-40 Ballard/Winchester round? Any ideas which of these I have?
This is more curiosity than anything, as the rifle was sleeved to 38-55 sometime down the line. It would be nice to know what it is supposed to be and try to find an old case or loaded round to go along with the rifle.
Hepburn Chambered for "32 . 2 1/8"
Re: Hepburn Chambered for "32 . 2 1/8"
32 . 2 1/8 is the 32-40 Remington. It is actually a .30 cal. as the bullet was .308 - .309. It is not necked, it's not straight , but a long tapered case.
