Model 11 12 gauge identification
I have an old Model 11 that I am trying to restore from my Grandfather. I isn't in great shape. The first step is trying to identify what year it was produced. I have looked for a serial number chart, but haven't found anything. The serial number is 30,046. Any information is greatly appreciated. And any tips from a fellow restorer would be great. I don't know if I know what I am getting into

Re: Model 11 12 gauge identification
The John M. Browning designed autoloading shotgun was introduced by Remington Arms Co. in 1905 as the Remington Autoloading Gun. In 1911 the company name was changed to Remington Arms -- Union Metallic Cartridge Co. and about that time they began calling the gun the No. 11 or the Model No. 11. So, if the company name on your gun is Remington Arms Co. it would have been made between 1905 and 1910, and if Remington Arms -- Union Metallic Cartridge Co. from 1911 to 1920.

Thank you very much. That is great. I am at work, so I will have to look again when I get home to check which exact company name is on the gun.
