1879 10 Gauge?

Making my first post after searching the forum with due diligence. I purchased a Remington 10 gauge SxS from a neighbor's yard sale simply because it looked neat and I had never owned a 10 gauge before. I came to this forum to research and I suspect this may be a 1879 lifter model.
From this forum I found that:
(1) In 1910, Remington ceased dbl barrel production.
(2) In 1882, lifter model production stopped.
(3) 1879 was the year that a Deely & Edge forearm catch was used
(4) 1879 had T shaped rib extensions
(5) 1878-1879 shared serial numbers - mine is s/n 2263. Being a later serial number I guess it would have actually been made in the early 1880's

Items 3,4, and 5 correctly describe my shotgun with 30" Damascus barrels making it a grade 3. It also has the pistol grip stock. I am attaching some photos in the comments showing these features in hopes someone can confirm whether it it indeed of the 1879 manufacture type.

Finally, my last set of photos. You will note that the gun is showing it's age. It is rather plain without any embellishments. Nonetheless it is a survivor. I suspect the etched name is from a previous owner. Not sure if it will ever be fired again, just appreciated for it's age. Thanks to anyone who would respond and help me learn more about this gun.

It appears your shotgun is 1878 Heavy Duck. You can tell this by the larger bolster. Another tell tale sign for being a 1878 Heavy Duck is how firing pin is recessed in the bolster. We have documented 1878 Heavy Duck models with the Deeley and Edge latch.

Dan from the pictures your double is a Model 1878 Heavy Duck Gun.
Oh yes the pistol grip cost $5.00 to $6.00 extra.

The breech is bigger the firing pins are recess in receiver. ooh the hammer screws are not original that does not have anything to do with the Model.

Thanks to both of you for your replies. Now I see the difference as pointed out in the photos. Took me a few minutes but I finally saw what you were trying to show me.
My understanding is that both the 1878 and 1879 used the same series of serial numbers. Mine would be near the end of that production run. Do you have any idea of when it might have been made?

Remington Double Shotguns by Charles Semmer's - Chapter IV "Lifter Models of 1878 and 1879 features a Heavy Duck version as described by Mike above. I own #277, it weighs a hefty 9.50 lbs and feels like a heavy duck gun!
