Would like to figure out the mfg date of a 16 ga wingmaster. Hope someone here can help.
The ser# 122977W with a 24in barrel (this may be incorrect as there is a polychoke installed.
Did Remington ever install polychokes at the factory or was this a previous owner's modification?

The letters are DXX which translate to sept, 1951 according to the chart. The same ser# is stamped on the barrel so I guess it is all original except for the polychoke.
On the right side are the letters REP witha proofmark that looks sort of like a diamond. What are these?

I'm beginning to understand all these cryptic stampings!!
There is "imp cyl" stamped near the data code. So I guess it began life as an improved cylinder.
Yes, the shell lifter looks like it was chromed once. It is still bright near the hinge.
