Okay, I could use a little advice and help. In February, I posted the following on this forum and, although 165 people viewed it, no one responded. Come on guys, you are the Remington experts. Surely someone has some advice on where to turn for more info on this gun.
>>>I have a 20ga Sportsman 48F that I believe belonged to my grandfather. It is serial number 3800002 which, according to the remington website, seems to make it possibly the 2nd 11-48 20ga ever produced. As it is F grade, it has great wood and the receiver is "engraved". I believe my grandfather was somehow associated with Remington and wonder how I can find out more about this gun and maybe my grandfather's involvment with Remington (board member?). <<<<

I can't help with your gun, except to maybe drool on it, but have you contacted Remington about it? Maybe they can help too?

No, not yet. I thought I'd start here first since so many Remington Society members probably have more knowledge about old Remington guns than anyone else...

RedGrouse - Sent you a PM. Did you get it? If not, email me at jdallas1@msn.com

F - grade was probably a presentation grade - at that time.
If you had a picture of your grandfather recieving this gun from the President of Remington - it would help.
I would then look at the picture to see if the knee area of his trousers were dirty, because he had to have done some favors for someone important to get it.
At one time, Remington kept the first one of every model ever made.
