Remington Keene, finding the right cartridge

Post by schuetze »

Hallo,
I need help with the rigth cartridge for my Remington Keene. Here are some data facts:
length over all 43,7 inches, barrel length 22 inches, mark on the receiver left side at the rear .433; on the bolt above:E:REMINGTON & SONS ILION N.Y.
PAT. FEB'Y 24 MCH. 17. 1874.JAN.18
SEPT 26 1876.MCH.20.JULY 31.1877
The impression of the chamber shows a good correspondence with the spanish remington 11,15x58R, but the original length of the cartridge-2,82 inches-is too long, the cartridge carrier tranports only cartridges with length over all with max. 2,575 inches perfectly. My question: has been exist a cartridge spanish remington 11,15x58R with a shorter bullet when the case was unchanged or has been exist acartridge similar thr spanish remintonwith another marking and a shorter length over all? The only I've found is a cartridge 11x48R (.433) Remington Carbine, 1871,but I don't know wether the measures of sholder and neck are identical with the 11,15x58R.Who can help me with the definition of the cartridge has been used in my carbine?
