Identification help needed!

Post by rowdy »

My dad recently passed down this Remington to me. It was originally his uncles. I believe it is either a No 1 1/2 Sporting or a No 4 Rolling Block. It is 38" in overall length, has a 24" octagonal barrell, has Remington Arms Company, Ilion, NY across the top of the barrel, and the number 32 and 90735 across the bottom of the barrel. I already have figured out it is in .32 long rimfire. I have seen pictures of similar rifles on this forum indicating a No. 4, however, the Blue Book indicates that the No 4 had only a 22 1/2" barrell. Any help would be apreciated. Thanks.

Your Gun is a pre 1900 Model 4 Solid frame. The 32 RF was brought out in a 24" barrel. After 1900 they they went to the take down frame. All information about this Gun can be found in REMINGTON 22 RIMFIRE RIFLES by John Gyde and Roy Marcot an excellent book just out that can be purchased through this site. Jay Huber RSA
