New 870 and noob question
Re: New 870 and noob question
Other barrels will fit, but you may have to fiddle around with the magazine to barrel clamp. And most clays ranges won't let you load more than 2 at a time anyway.

.
I'm not clear on which specific model you have, but if it has a choke tube, just buy another one that may have a bit more constriction.......like a full or modified for some longer range targets.
I think it would depend on what type of target shooting you're thinking about, too. Hand thrown, informal type stuff or at a trap or skeet range. If it's the closer-range type of targets, your current configuration should be fine.

Call ahead of time if going to a real range and check. A lot of them also have minimum barrel length requirements, and its usually quite a bit more than 18". And most have a maximum shot size limit as well, usually #7-1/2, but I have seen #8 too.
