The streamlined Model 11-48 and The Sportsman 48 didn't come out until very late in 1948 or early 1949. The first catalogue that I have in my collection showing the Model 11-48 and The Sportsman 48 is dated 1949. The May 1, 1948, Remington Arms Co., Inc. catalogue is still showing the squareback Model 11 and The Sportsman. My 20-gauge The Sportsman has a BTT barrel code, January 1948, and the serial number is in the 1,093,7xx range.
I just checked my old volumes of The American Rifleman, and their review of the new streamlined Remingtons was in the March 1949 issue.
