Getting it cleaned up isn't a bad idea, but you want to make sure that the person doing the job knows what he or she is doing and doesn't remove or replace any original finish. It is better to keep these old rifles in "beat up" condition than to refinish them, at least as far as collector value is concerned. If you replace the sling swivel then you will want to do it with an exact original part, if you can't find such then I would leave it off, especially if installing the new one means altering the wood around it in any way, again you want to keep the rifle as original as you can. I admit I am no expert when it comes to these things, just saying what I would look for if I were purchasing an antique firearm. Good luck.
