I believe you are talking about the receiver insert - $3.20. The 12 has a buffer in the rear of the bolt. The 20 has a receiver buffer. The 28 and 410 have a receiver buffer and a receiver insert.
What could have happened... did.

It is intended to reduce impact on the inside of receiver. I think you need a new gunsmith, or perhaps just a real gunsmith. I have changed a couple.
What could have happened... did.
