Touching Up Forearm Wood

The only flaw I have on this Wingmaster is an erasor size scrape on the corner away from the checkering. It appears as if the high gloss coating, as well as the very top of the wood, has been scraped. It is very smooth to the touch, when you rub your finger across it, though. I was wondering what I needed to do to fix this without making it worse. Would buying some polyurethane and a good, small brush do the job? Would it "level" off ok? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

Try rubbing it with 0000 steel wool and and applying several coats of TRUE OIL. with your finger. when dry steel wool lightly. Jay Huber RSA

Jay, is True Oil glossy enough that I don't have to use polyurethane?

Yes, but to get a real high luster after steelwooling polish on a soft buffing wheel at slow speed using a white rouge. You could use polyurethane in place of true oil and accomplish the same thing. It's tricky work. Jay
