I understand what a rifled slug barrel is and what it's used for. I'm looking at a 870 super mag with a 23" "turkey barrel" which has a full turkey choke. How is a "turkey" barrel different from a standard shotgun barrel? Is it length? Is it because the barrel is camo? Or is it really the choke that makes the difference? The reason I ask is the gun I'm looking has a great price, but I want to use it for more that turkey hunting. I'd like to use it for trap shooting, dove hunting, water fowl, etc. So can a 23" "turkey" barrel be used for other applications by just swapping the choke?
Thanks.

Re: Remington 870 Express Super Mag - Barrel Types
Turkey barrels are usually short, because you may have to manoever in a tight spot, and they are choked tight for the head shot. With different choke tubes, you can shoot about anything, but since you plan to go wingshooting - real and clay - I think you will find a longer barrel beneficial. You can shoot geese or trap with a 21" barrel, but there is a reason most people don't. You can certainly get started, and then get another barrel if you find you like it and want to do better, later.
