Non-rebated receiver, patents on tang, owner says lower longer than upper. He can't see a serial but suspect this one is early I imagine. I asked the seller to remove the forearm to check for serial there but he said it would not come loose and he didn't want to force it. He thinks the little pin on the fore end cap secures it to the barrel or something.
Must have been a beautiful gun in its time with beech front, RR rear, SST, crescent butt, and fabulous wood. Shame it went to hell.

Looks like another of those very early round top receivers. I don't believe I've ever seen that type of forearm cap on a RB sporter. The extremely deep crescent on the buttplate is also only found on very early Rolling Blocks. I don't think it's beyond salvation, but it will never be the gorgeous gun it once was!
I'd love to own an early one like that, but I'm guessing it will go way too high, even in this condition.-Vall
