Help Identifying a Remington Rolling Block in 7mm

I need some help identifying a Remington Rolling Block rifle in 7mm that I just bought. I’ve looked in quite a few places, including the Remington book, but I can’t find out much about this rifle. It has Remington Arms Co., Ilion N.Y. USA, Patented Octr 22nd, 1901 stamped on the tang. On the top of the barrel just ahead of the wood it is tampted Cal 7mm. A large R. S. is stamped on the left side of the receiver. The wood on the bottom side of the barrel runs all the way out to the end of the barrel and has a metal cap fitted over the end of the wood. On the right side of the receiver at the bottom, is the number 00186. This number is also on other parts of the gun. This may be the serial number, but I’m not sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The owner shot this quite a few times and claims it works well. I’ll find out next week when I shoot it. It does have an excellent bore that is quite shiny. Your rifle is what is called the "Model 1902" Rolling Block. It was sold quite extensively to Mexico, Central and South America. All the secondary marks you describe were applied by the user country. These rifles had no serial number. For reloading the 7mm cartridge for the Rolling Block scroll down to the entry titled "7mm Roller" by Alpo.

Thanks for the info. I have not seen one of these with the stock extending to the end of the barrel like a Mannlicher (sp?). Do you know anything about that configuration? I'd post a picture, but I don't know how to attach the photo.
