Just had Lone Star Rifle build me a 44-77 on an original action (real rust bucket so restore was way too much money & out of the question) This is a hunting rifle so I don't need new fangled bullets for it. What my desire is to use bullet weights that were factory loads in the 1870's. as best as I can find is that Remington loaded a grease lube ("naked") bullet around 375 to 400 grains and a paper patch bullet either 400 or 470 grains. What I need is:
a) accurate bullet weight info, &
b) reasonably priced bullet moulds in the appropriate grain weights & style.
The lube bullet needs to be .446 to .447 diameter & the paper patch .440 dia. also want round nose not flat ( flat is too modern), and need the bullet to taoer so as to allow a full 77 gr. charge and an OAL of 3.05
anyone who can spin me around & point my nose in the right direction, help is deeply appreciated.
