lever action rb project

Post by john hamilton »

In 1966 I bought an Egyptian RB barreled action from Hunter's Lodge in Alexandria, Va for $7.50. The barrel was worthless but Numrich Arms was selling .45-70 buffalo rifle conversion kits for about $40 so I got one. It had the barrel, stock parts and the buttplate and was an easy assembly.

Too easy. Next I checkered and carved the stock. It looked good and the rifle was very accurate with factory loads and, with the heavy barrel, had low recoil.

Still not satisfied I converted the action to lever. The trigger guard was cut at the rear and allowed to rotate on the front screw. A link (which shows in the picture) was made out of 1/8" steel and inlet into the trigger guard and the rolling block. When the lever is lowered the block is rotated back. Since the ear on the rolling block was not used any more it was cut off.

Hope my pictures got added so you can see this. It brought a rusty piece of junk back.
