Remington Model 11 - Military Finish

Recently inhereted a Remington Model 11 - Military Issue - Marking on it have the military ordinance symbol. The seriel number is: 495856 - Can someone date the weapon for me? Real curious to see what year is was made. Thanks and I'm glad to be on this sight!!!

For some reason, nobody seem's to be able to follow directions and cannot research information on their own.

I first want to appolgize to the original poster for the rude remarks above. I hope these don't reflect on the rest of us.

There is date information on the home page, as linked in the 3rd post.
According to the information here:

It was manufactured in August 1943. The barrel will have some small letters stamped on the left side (non ejection port side of gun) just in front of the receiver. These are the date codes in the link above (3rd post) IF the barrel serial number matches the receiver, then this will give you the most accurate date (Month and Year) of shipment. Barrels are easy to swap, so , to me, it's not the best way to have dated these guns.

I don't know where the "directions" are that "can't be followed". Please welcome new members with friendly reminders instead of bad attitudes.
