Mystery Rifle in movie - idenity

Post by 270_guy »

There's a discussion going on a http://www.gon.com forum as to the identity of a rifle used in the 1950 movie King Solomon's Mines. It's a tubular magazine straight bolt action.

Time from 2:52 shows a good profile. The latest suggestion is it's a short magazine Remington Keene.

What say you?

As an owner of a RK carbine, you are correct. it is a modified RK sporting rifle. Doesn't seem to cycle too well in the movie.

Thanks b1acksmith.

I thought it looked too much like one not to be one. Just to cover my bets, I asked the NRA National Firearms Museum as well. They concur that it's a Hollywood modified Remington-Keene. Also said last year one of the larger prophouses auctioned off a number of arms. They thought that rifle was one on the ones sold.
