Hello All,
My father gave me an old shotgun last Christmas and I'm having some trouble identifying it. I believe it to be a Model 11 or 11a.
He won this shotgun in a poker game in the early '50s, so we don't know much about it's history. With my limited research, it's my understanding that the Model 11 had smooth (non-checked) stocks. The foregrip on this gun is checked. I'm looking to replace the buttstock, as it's cracked.
The serial number on the gun is 94704.
Can anyone give me any information on this shotgun? Also, any recommendations on a good, reasonably-priced stock builder?
This was the shotgun that I learned to shoot with, so I'm interested in restoring it for sentimental values only. It probably won't hunt again....
In advance, thanks for any info....

Re: Shotgun ID
Why not hunt with it? I was shot ducks opening day in Michigan and Ontario a first year of production Remington Autoloading Shotgun which is the earlier type of Model 11. They'll still shoot and do what they were made to do, I killed my limit both days.

Re: Shotgun ID
Yeah, it probably deserves some more time in the field, but I'm finding that the older that I get, the more I like a pump shotgun. I hunt with an 870 and an 870 Express. I'm really curious about the history of this gun, more than anything. I'd love to get a set of stocks built for it, but am having trouble finding any that are reasonably priced....
