Model 11 Help Please
Model 11 Help Please
I have a Model 11, serial # 635XX on forward bottom of receiver if front of loading port, and no other markings except "RP" on right side of barrel, manufacturer/patent info on top of barrel, and "Full" on left side of barrel. Can anyone tell me production date of this shotgun and where I could send it for inspection and repair? Thanks in advance!!!

Re: Model 11 Help Please
The records that the Remington Society have begin in September 30, 1919, and the high serial number that date is 199,611. When the Remington Arms Co. brought out this John M. Browning designed autoloading shotgun in 1905, they called it the Remington Autoloading Gun. In 1911 Remington Arms Co. was combined with Union Metallic Cartridge Co. as Remington Arms - Union Metallic Cartridge Co. and they began calling this gun the No. 11. So, if your gun says Remington Arms Co. it was made between 1905 and 1910. If the markings say Remington Arms - Union Metallic Cartridge Co. it was made 1911 or later. In 1920 the company became Remington Arms Co., Inc. and in 1934 controlling interest in Remington was acquired by DuPont. Sometime between the 1923 catalogue and the 1929 catalogue they began listing the gun as the Model 11.
