Remington 700 270 info
Hello again. I'm now working on my Rem 700 270 that I need to float the barrel and do some trigger replacement with a Timmy. My questions are is the twist rate 1-10 on the rifle serial #A648----, date of mfg, is a Timmy trigger my best option and is it something I can do myself or is it best to be done by a professional gunsmith which are few and far between here in rural Nevada? Thank you again.

Re: Remington 700 270 info
1-10" is what Remington used in all their models for the .270 Win cartridge.
Installing the new trigger is pretty straightforward, just pay attention not to damage parts. The Bolt Stop Spring can be damaged, and be sure to check it's orientation before disassembly. The safety can be damaged when the pin is driven out, make sure the safety is moved out of way.

Hello. I’d be cautious about making the trigger replacement a DIY project, especially since the trigger is a safety-critical component. If qualified gunsmiths are difficult to find locally, I’d contact a reputable Remington specialist and ask about both the trigger work and the barrel clearance at the same time.KenJ wrote: Mon Aug 03, 2026 7:43 am Hello again. For the twist rate and production date, I’d also try to confirm the details from Remington’s factory records or an experienced collector before making any changes. The exact configuration can depend on the rifle’s production period and model variant.
