Hello,
I’m trying to help identify a rifle that my brother-in-law recently acquired in .308. On the right side of the receiver, it has the markings “REP” inside an oval, with an “H” next to it. Below that is a “J” inside a triangle. Toward the muzzle side on the same side, there are three Russian characters “ГИГ” followed by the number “11” to the right.
On the left side, it is stamped “GF” along with the serial number G7034766.
We’re trying to determine the year of manufacture and whether it corresponds to any specific variant or designation (for example, police, military, or standard civilian model). Any guidance on how to decode these markings or where to check official records would be appreciated. If there is a contact number for Remington or another relevant source, that would also help, since he is currently overseas and may have difficulty looking into it himself.

Re: An identification help
Remington plus Russian usually adds up to a Mosin Nagant, maybe an M91. A picture would go a long ways to helping identify.
