Unusual Model 51

Post by Cdfrench04-+ »

I have a 51 that does not fit any identifying standards. I will provide pics as requested.

There is no serial number, in the traditional sense. The left side of the frame is stamped 3434, no PA, no nothing else, thats it. The top of the slide is of the older Pedersen stampings. The slide has the 15 or so serations, and the barel is stamped 380 CAL. The right side of the trigger guard does have the anchor stamp.

The gun seems to be a hodge podge of parts, but its really not, everything fits and functions perfectly. When my father passed at 90 I found it when clearing out his work bench and I'm just stumped as to its history, manufacturing wise.

Anyone have a clue?

Hi C French,

It sure sounds like a assembled gun, from a bunch of parts. It could be a Lunchbox gun. Parts that left the factory one piece at a time in a lunch box.

Daniel.

Thank you Daniel, an interesting thought that never occured to me. The only problem I see with your theory is the 3434 where the serial number would normaly be and the early Remington stamping on top of the slide and the later 15 slide serrations as opposed to the earlier 9. I'm really stumped.

Thank you again for the response. Anyone else have any thoughts? Appreciate it.
