A new member from the United Kingdom.
A keen shooter (yes we are allowed guns in the UK!) and antiques collector, as an engineer I have naturally always had a fascination with antique firearms especially the Remington New Model Army.
I have always wanted an original civil war 1858 strictly for study purposes as I have been trying to get a good example and finally got my hands on what I believe to be a great example with most of the original blue left and it’s my first of hopefully many..
Got lucky at auction and picked up an 1858 New Model Army serial number 83602 at sensible pricing and in great condition! At some point in time this Remington has made it across the pond to the UK and has been in a collection for some time until recently when it came up at auction.
I will post a proper post under the correct section regarding the research I have done so far and what I have found along with some photos
