Inherited Remington 700
Unfortunately my grandmother passed away recently. I was given one of my grandfather's main hunting rifles, a Remington 700 BDL in .300 win mag. I am having a difficult time dating it. It is in the 625xxxx serial range. The barrel stamp has a spade then PS97. I have dated newer Remington's but this one has me stumped. My uncle's said it's from the late 60's and with the second S being 1969 but I'm seeing conflicting information on that serial range. It could possibly have been re-barrelled at some point which could be an 80's receiver with a 1995 barrel. The finish is more worn on the receiver. I would like to know the history of this rifle being it was my grandfather's. I can take more helpful photos upon request. It has period correct see thru scope mounts and a redfield wide view 3-9x.

Re: Inherited Remington 700
Sincere condolences. June 1969 no doubt about it-everything lines up. As built rifle. Full 24" stainless steel barrel. Enjoy it!
