Rolling Block No. 4??

Post by FLDAWG »

I recently purchased a Remington rolling block which I believe is a No. 4.
It has a 24" barrel and is 38" overall. The olny stamping are 32 across the barrel and 62217 down the barrel, both just in front of the wood foreend. Can anyone tell me the date of manufacture?

Judging by the serial #, you have a very early lever take down No. 4. The solid frame was replaced by the lever take down system in 1900, although there was some overlapping of the two types while the changeover took place. Yours must have been made very near 1900. I can't give you the exact date.
