just got this old model Navy

Post by OKCorral »

Hi everybody, this is my first posting on this forum, so let me start by saying it's great to be here! I'm mostly Colt collector but have few Remington revolvers in my collection. This particular gun I got at Baltimore show and this is the earliest Remington that came my way. I would love to hear opinions about it especially if it's possible to explain "PS" stamping on receiver and barrel. Unfortunately cylinder pin is broken and I don't have a clue where to find one maybe somebody can point me in the right direction (S&S dont have it)
Thank you all.

Hi OK Corral,

Sorry for the late reply. I was just looking through the posts and found a few without replies. Send the serial number and I can tell you when it was made. The bottom of the trigger guard is straight, not slightly curved, so it must have hit something, or was dropped. For the cylinder pin, or arbor, check Dixie Gun works. The cylinder pin for the Old Model Army, or the New Model Navy won't fit. The S and the P are sub-inspectors marks, so your pistol was a gov purchase.

Do you have any Remington Cartridge Models? There is an ongoing survey of the Belt Models, and the 1890 Model revolvers, and I am interested in adding to he knowledge base on these models. There are monographs available for those two models.

Normally I would have a display at table, K-11, at the Balto show, but I'm not sure that I'll be there next year.

Daniel.
