How new is this 700?

Post by ChrisQ »

My name is Chris and I am a new member. I just picked up a previously enjoyed model 700 BDL .30-06. I know its not a classic rifle based on the action screws are Allen heads not slotted and the dot matrix code under the bolt handle. I know its older than 2 or 3 years based on trigger is not a Timney. SN RR44330E. I am thinking it in the last 10-15 years. The checkering looks laser engraved. How close am I on the age?

Chris I am like you, I would like to have the date of manufacture of a couple of 700’s. My problem is the supposed serial number or date code doesn’t match up with the information given here. Both the have a single letter before the numbers, not the two given in the code methodology. I have found however that during late 1999 until late 2001 Remington used a difference technique. Can anyone out there help us. Thanks.

It is the barrel markings you are looking for to date most. The "RR" or any letter(s) before the serial number is only a clue. XH would be Dec., 2013. Mid 1999 to late 2001 the date code on the barrel was suspended.
