I just acquired this pump action shotgun. Here's all the markings that I can find on it.
-left side of barrel says mod and under that it says LA3PU
-right side of barrfel says REP and has a boat anchor
-safety in front of trigger guard
-Remington UMC behind trigger guard
-under receiver has a U and under that has 190246
-hard plastic buttpad also has remington UMC
Gun is in pretty rough condition. Barrel is short. I dont have a tape measure handy right now. Gun may even be missing some parts.
Someone help please.?
Can someone tell me what this is?

It sounds like the gun you have is Remington's first pump-action shotgun which started life circa 1908 as the Remington Repeating Shotgun, then was briefly called the Model 1908 and then became the Model 10 after Remington-UMC merged in 1911.

Here is a little more info:
The Remington Repeating Shotgun was marked on the barrel " Remington Arms Company" with patent dates Feb 3, 1903 & May 18, 1905. About 10,000 guns were made from 1908 to 1910. The gun was made in seven grades that were designated 0 to 6. Prices ran from about $27 to $140 that is about $635 and $3300 in today's money.
In 1911 the gun was renamed the Model 10.
