New Model Army....info?

Post by Randy77 »

Hi,

I recently acquired an 1858 Remington New Army.

I thought it was Civil war era, but not so sure anymore- it has Serial #1409XX - is this made after the war?

Also, it's in great shape with a smooth, dark gray finish.

Works functionally except the cylinder rotates freely (broken hand I think). Any idea how that would affect collector's value?

Thanks, I'm glad I found this site :D

Your gun was made at the beginning of 1965 And may not have made it into the Civil War as being issued. I assume it has military inspection marks on it. A non working cylinder degrades the value of the Gun. Jay Huber RSA

Thanks for the info,

Yes, it has the military cartouche on the grips.

I hope you mean it was most likely made in early 1865?
