The second 725 has arrived. Date code AE, March 1959, ser# 708711
Looks like some modifications have been done on the grip. I don't think this is factory.

Using the codes from this group:
left side of barrel,
3 R F 1.4
3 is laying to the left at 45 degrees...guessing the final inspector
R is Nov
F is 1959
1.4...guessing the assembly

Right side of barrel,
REP (encircled) A symbol (encircled on top 3/4) Delta G symbol laying to the right.
REP is the proof mark
A is the TEST (??)
Delta G is the magnaflux

Hello new to the forum. Looking for some help to identify the grade of this 725. Based on serial number was manufactured in 1958. Caliber is 30-06 and appears to be factory engraved. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

"Remington 721" is stamped on the outer middle left side of the receiver

The serial number is "1 1 2 9 8 2" and is located on the front left side of the receiver.

The rear left side of the barrel is stamped with "375" (which I know is 375 H&H Mag) and the rear right side of the barrel is stamped with "APEX MATCH GRADE"

Certainly not the original barrel and so there are no letter codes to indicate a year. The gun just has the serial number

Greetings!

I am newly registered to this forum.

In addition to a Remington Model 1894 12-gauge shotgun I recently inherited (used it when we owned a farm in Chantilly, VA) that has been passed down through the family from my great grandfather, I also inherited a Model 721 that my dad purchased for deer hunting. I eventually got to use this gun for deer hunting. I'm not sure when my dad purchased it, but sometime before September 1957.

I do know the following, however:

Manufactured April 1955 (left side barrel code DB, Serial Number 371XXX)
Returned to Remington to modify bolt lock when the safety was on (left side barrel code CD 3, plus stamp on the right side of the barrel that I interpret as the bolt lock alteration). Capable of being unloaded with the safety on.

It is chambered for .30-06 rounds.

Unfortunately, the way my dad ultimately stored the guns when he finally hid them away in his house (he let my brother and I know where they were rather than asking us if we wanted them) meant that they all developed some level of rust on one side of the barrel and, in the case of the 721, some areas of damage to the wooden stock. I've taken care of the more immediate rust on this rifle's barrel and it has cleaned up well. These are the "before" photos:
