Lee Arms Model 1879

Post by rudybolla »

I picked this 1879 Lee Arms magazine rifle up in an online auction. Photos were bad, but price was good and description made me take a shot. Upon arrival, I discovered that it had a Frankenstein bolt poorly fashioned from a .303 Enfield. Chucked it in the trash. Next, the magazine, which are rare, was blocked for single shot and the cutoff was missing. Also missing rear sight and cleaning rod. Those are no big deal. The rest of the rifle is in pretty good condition. No mangled wood and a decent bore. I have two options. One, find a correct bolt from a junk rifle or whole cut down rifle for a decent price. Or, two, find someone with the above who wants to put together a complete rifle. I'm easy at this point. Any suggestions?

Anyone? Ideas? Possible sources for parts or junk rifles?
