Need info Remington model 14

Post by Claven2 »

I picked up a 1913 production model 14 in 32 Remington I need help with.

Gun is missing original butt, rear sight and magazine screw. Rest is there and while finish worn, is sound. Bore is about an 8/10.

I have a semi inlet butt on the way, though not sure what buttplate would have come on a 1913 gun. If anyone knows, let me know pls.

I understand magazine screws are hard to find. I have all I need to make one, except the dimensions. Anyone know the length of the treaded portion, diameter and height of the head, and the thread size?

Thanks!!

Your rifle most likely would have had a Bakelite Logo butt plate, nylon repros of this butt plate can be found on Ebay or Gunbroker for about $20. Original Bakelite plates were extremely brittle to begin with, finding a usable original is unlikely. Also, the steel shotgun style plates which followed the Bakelite have the same configuration and show up from time to time on the internet.

I have Wheel Sights and the magazine screw. I probably have a JR14, just be patient they show up on the auction sites from time to time, and while I don't like drilling these old rifles the Redfield JR is the way to go if you are. Before you ask, I'm too old and too bloody lazy to go down to my shop and take measurements!
