Need help researching a USMC 40X sniper rifle

I recently acquired a very unique 40X rifle that has been modified by Sionics and was purportedly used in the 1973 USMC MCDEC sniper rifle tests. Is there any way to get a factory record on this rifle? Is there anyone at the Remington Society currently doing research on Remington sniper rifles? Any help digging up historical information is greatly appreciated!
