I have an 1100 from the mid 70's that I have replaced the stock with a "Sporting" stock, and replaced the old 26" standard contour barrel with a 28" Target barrel with center bead only a couple weeks ago. I took note of the bolt locking notch in the new barrel and noticed that it was a nice clean cut. However after only 5 boxes of Target Loads I have seen a significant amount of wear on the unlock cycle. I am going crazy working on this shotgun as I have taken care to be sure every part is in good working order. And to see this wear on a brand new barrel after only 125 shots... seems a bit much.
The gun looks great and shoots well. Just need to get this issue resolved before it becomes a problem.

Re: Remington 1100 ('75 vintage) lock up issues
Perfectly normal. They all quickly get a mark, some more than others, but it doesn't get significantly worse, at least for 115,000 rounds anyway. But that does look a bit uneven. Is your barrel centered rotationally with the receiver? If so you may want to slightly break the top edge of the locking block on that side. A little bit goes a long way.
What could have happened... did.
