Remington model 25 - I think

Post by steveyacht »

My brother-in-law has been given a Remington Pump rifle and asked me to find some information on it for him. I believe it is a Model 25 in 32 Remington, which I think is the same as the 32 Win Special. Serial number is C22260. The photos he sent me just don't add up though. Most model 25's I have seen have a crescent butt plate, and a smooth under barrel tubular magazine. The pics he sent me show a nearly flat butt and the plate is missing. The tubular magazine has a spiral shape. I will down load his photos as soon as I figure out this new fangled phone of mine.

Thank you all for your help and comments.

What you have is an early Model 14, manufactured about 1914. Model 14's until about serial 95,000 had the serial on the lower frame with a "C" over it. Model 25's had it in the same place but with an AA over it, the two may be similar in looks but the Model 14 has a much larger frame. The Model 25 came in only two calibers 32-20 & 25-20, neither of which could be confused with the 32 Remington and yes it is a rimless clone of the 32 Winchester Special.

Hope this helps.
